I use detangler sprays for my 18 month old who is mixed Black and Anglo. My favorites are Olive Oil for Girls and Cantu kids. It helps moisturizer and relax the curly hair strands

He’s really not moving that much. He’s sitting really well for a kid his age. As a teacher working with kids his age he’s very good.

Aww you're son is so cute and his curls are beautiful. Just a helpful tip when combing curly hair out you should hold the hair at the root and always start combing from the bottom up to the root(a detangling/shower brush works best for me); it will save you a lot of time and cause less damage on the hair. Also a rat tail comb makes parting way easier. But good job mom his hair looks great I'm glad to see your putting in an effort for your child's hair 😊

I like that you say you're not perfect in this. I have 2 mixed boys with lots of hair. My older one has afro hair at the front, back and on the side but at the top he has an area which has bigger curls…still try to find the perfect brush and a way to do their hair. You're doing great. Cute little one

You should get a blow dryer with a comb attachment that ways it’s easier to braid his hair because if it’s curly it will be harder to braid. So u should get that on amazon or a hair store and use it to blow dry is hair straight.

Try a rat tail comb. It has a pointy end for parting the hair

YES lol i was going to tell you place him in a high chair or his feeding chair so he can be high up and also locked in and cant escape lol. Nothing wrong with tablet or tv, i just make sure he watches stuff that teaches him stuff like abc's,colors, stuff like that, plus it helps when trying to get stuff done(trusttt me i used to be that "i would never give my kids blah blah blah BEFORE becoming a mom lol)

When you comb it hold it at the root with one hand and comb with the other hand.

I have a one year old boy with hair exactly like your son's. I've been looking all over YouTube for SIMPLE styles and this is the first one I actually like and feel like I'd be able to do….. Now just to keep him still long enough to even think about trying it 😳

So adorable, but I have the same problem with my some on the parting, I don’t think it’s the way we do it, it’s there head… as much as I try to make it straight it’s uneven… think cuz their hair isn’t use to it 1 and 2 hair still growing in… VS when I do my daughters and she is 9…

Try a tangle teezer brush instead of the wide tooth comb. It is really gentle, and gets the tangles out quickly. My little guy has hair just like this, and making the switch was a game changer.

If you want his hair at the bottom to stay and not come lose just get some hot water and let it sit on the hair

The way you start braiding his hair up top it's perfect, but midway you want to switch your hands and start braiding underhand if that makes any sense. This way your hans will be closer to his scalp and it creates that tightness that you're looking for at the bottom. Good luck! I think you're doing a great job, it takes practice!:)

Such a cutie. Also be careful when combing his hair with knots so forcefully. Try holding the hair at the root before forcing the comb through so it's not pulling at his scalp.

You should try to pull your hands down when braiding instead of putting them at the same level of the braid and put something on the floor to distract him to look down

For girls its real pretty hair styles you can do that you don't have to braid at all if any plenty of YouTube videos on that too .but keep practicing love !!
