All these people culture grabbing like they dont appropriate other cultures ever day🤦‍♀️. I've been attacked for having braids in. I'm south and eastern African but I'm also Scottish irish and Wales and obviously my Scottish roots show most so im super pale. I like to know about all of my culture and ancestors. I even know what tribes in Africa I descent. I wear braids sometimes and get attacked for it just because I dont look like I'm African and it's not fair that they get to assume what my culture is. I love my African and s/i/w culture. There all a big part of my life and make me feel Closer to my roots. It makes me sad to know that there are so many people who dont even know there African docents it's a beautiful cultural and Africa is a beautiful place.

this tutorial…is so uncalled for… back in the time slavery was still around, african american women used this type of hairstyle to hide rice to feed themselves and their family. if they took rice from the farms of their masters, then they would get beat, so in order to keep themselves healthy without their masters knowing, they used this hairstyle to hide their rice. if african americans would like to reclaim this hairstyle and wear it to express who they are and empower themselves from that time, they have every right to do so. racism is still a problem in this country, white privilege still exists, and we both know many white people use their privilege for good, and you degrading african american women by wearing this hairstyle without a care in the world is incredibly insensitive…

Nice job. Cornrows are central to the African diaspora. This is not new the African people have done this for centuries with skill and purpose rooted in culture.

All these people claiming cultural appreciation dont know what it means. If this is culture appropriation the dont us any makeup or wear heals. The shit and torture Chinese wemon went through daily because of beauty standard isnt a fucking joke stop using our culture.

tbh i feel as though doing cornrows isn't cultural appropriation, its basically just a lot of french braids. they are beautiful asf on all races but make sure to appreciate other peoples culture if your gonna use it.
